Attended for lunch with two friends. We all ordered differently to sample menu, friends ordered crab an avocado stack and scollops (both said were delicious) and I ordered the pancetta mushrooms which were ideal as a starter. Mains were lamb shank, melt in the mouth, veal with an amazing potato and spinach combination and lobster tagliatelle which was gorgeous and light enough for lunch. We couldnt squeeze in dessert after having mocktails of eternal sunshine and a few cocktails which were amazingly refreshing. Would definitely go back there especially for the afternoon tea for two with gin and tonic!

    I did 🙂
I had baked pancetta mushrooms followed by salmon with lemon and spinach risotto with grilled asparagus. The desserts looked so nice although they weren’t included in the free deal I ended up going for the black cherry eton mess which was lovely.
Looking at the menu prices it’s a little more expensive than your average pub grub but the food does seem a little posher and the service was great. Hopefully they keep up the good service and it continues to be a great place to go once they’ve officially opened!!

I was there too. I had the scallops for starts and it was amazing. Really liked the posh mushy peas that came with it. For main, i was torn between the Wild Boar & Chorizo Burger and Lamb Shank but went for the burger. Was slightly dissapointed with the burger – the salad that came with it was dried up, smal dollup of lime and chilli mayo (was expecting a little pot for the mayo) and the burger looked highly processed. To be honest, I expected a more rustic, hand made feel to the burger but looked similar to a burger you’d get from ‘spoons. But, food was lovely and enjoyed the homemade lemonade.

My boyfriend had the smoked beek salad for starter and he really enjoyed that. Then he had the rib eye steak (medium) but it came out slightly bloody. He enjoyed it all – there was nothing left on the plate!

Service was ok but there is room for improvement. We had to wait for a while before getting asked what we wanted for drinks. I like to have a drink while looking at the menu. We asked to have a foccacia bread (side order) with our starter but it didn’t turn up. It came with our main.

    Good luck Browns in Cardiff

Thanks for your comments. It was such a good deal! Where did you hear about it?

I attended the opening party last night and it was amazing. Lovely venue, great staff, good service and a fantastic ambience (probably helped along with the copious amounts of free drinks on offer). Guests were given gorgeous cocktails, free champagne, free spirits – the Hendricks Gin by the way is a bit special! We were also supplied with gorgeous “nibbles” throughout the entire evening, food ranged from fish and chips wrapped in their own individual cones (nice touch!) scallops on chorizo, calamari and melt in your mouth chocolate brownies to name just a few.
I look forward to returning to Browns in the future! All I need now is an excuse for a night out…
